About Birch Hill Farm

A small farm with a big heart — rooted in a love of horses and a belief that the barn is one of the best places on earth.

Our Story

Birch Hill Farm is a complete equestrian center offering boarding, training, showing, sales and lessons. The facikity is eight acres containing pastures, riding areas, the stable, and a large indoor ring for inclement weather. The aim of the farm is simple - to teach correct and safe horsemanship while having fun at a sport that can last a lifetime.

What We Believe

Horses First

Every decision we make starts with what's best for the horses in our care. Their health, comfort, and happiness are non-negotiable.

Genuine Care

We're not a big operation. We know every horse by name, every quirk, every preference. That personal attention is something we're proud of.

Patient Teaching

Learning to ride takes time. We meet every student where they are and build confidence at a pace that feels right for them — never rushed.

Community

The barn is a gathering place. We love that our boarders and students form friendships here, and we work to keep Birch Hill a welcoming, supportive environment for everyone.

The People Behind the Farm

Birch Hill is run by a small, dedicated team who live and breathe horses. We're here every day — not because it's a job, but because this is what we love.

Pete Nathan, Owner and Head Instructor at Birch Hill Farm

Pete Nathan

Owner & Head Instructor

Birch Hill Farm's owner and trainer has been involved with horses for most of his life. He started riding as a child, enjoying trail rides with his parents and riding at summer camp. He began taking formal hunt seat lessons at the age of 11 and soon started working in exchange for lessons. By the age of 15, he began teaching and has now been teaching for over 60 years. The first stable he managed was Burgundy Ride Farm in Wisconsin, where he operated a large riding school and a successful show team. Many of his former students are still riding today, some as professionals and others as amateurs. His goal at Birch Hill Farm is to maintain a quality facility that is small enough to focus on each individual's needs. He is dedicated to providing personalized instruction through private lessons and creating a welcoming environment for people who share a passion for horses and enjoy this wonderful sport.
